LEADING child-care expert Peter RIghton walked from a court in disgrace yesterday after he was fined £900 on porn charges.
He was trapped by customs officers who intercepted paedophile material he had tried to import from Holland.
In a raid on a cottage 66-year-old Righton shares with the headmaster of a special school, police and customs men discovered a hoard of paedophile magazines and photographs of young boys. Righton has acted as a senior consultant to the National Children’s Bureau, a respected charity which provides training packages and videos for local authority social workers.
Magistrates at Evesham, Worcestershire, heard that as a result of the case he had lost a part-time post with the Open University lecturing social services bosses on the rights of children in care. Righton, of Evesham, pleased guilty to two charges of importing prohibited material and one of…
